The DPO added that senior police officials should keep an eye on the performance of their subordinates. DPO Faisal Kamran further said that the main objective behind establishing Khidmat Markaz was to facilitate people and bridge the gap between police and the people. The Police Khidmat centre means to provide services to the people within the stipulated time, he added.

Later, he was briefed that as many as 14 facilities including character certificate, copy of FIR, driving learner permit, international driving permit, registration of tenants, vehicle clearance certificate and renewal of the driving license were provided at Police Khidmat Centre under one roof for which people don’t need to go to the police stations or any other office. The DPO also directed to treat people with respect and make appropriate arrangements keeping in view the cleanliness, weather conditions and security at the service centres. Meanwhile, District Police Officer Muhammad Faisal Kamran held an open court and had informal conversation with the citizens coming there.  47 citizens informed the DPO of their problems, on which orders were issued to the officers concerned for immediate action. According to details, in view of the open door policy of Inspector General of Police Inam Ghani and Additional Inspector General of Police South Punjab Capt (retd) Zafar Iqbal Awan, DPO Muhammad Faisal Kamran continued holding the Khuli Kachahri at his office.

In view of the severe weather and travel problems, the DPO had also ordered the provision of air coolers and cold water to the citizens, which was being implemented. In an open forum, 47 citizens lodged complaints against the police. Apart from the petitions, the DPO also discussed with the citizens under the “Open Discussion forum” the law and order situation in Bahawalpur and the change in the fixation of time for the Khuli Kachahri.

Citizens appreciated the positive response and fast policing measures.  They also pointed out some problems regarding the law and order situation, which the DPO issued orders to the concerned staff and officers to rectify.  Speaking on the occasion, DPO Muhammad Faisal Kamran said that the purpose of the open forum was to let you know your problems and concerns without any hesitation so that they could be resolved in the spirit of criticism for reforms.
