Two children among five burnt in acid attack

BAHAWALPUR: Five people, two children among them, suffered burns in an acid attack at their house at Jalalabad village about 25 kilometres away from here on Tuesday.

Police claimed that they had registered the case for the first time under the new women harassment law.

According to DPO’s PRO Jam Sajid, Akram barged into a house and threw acid on members of a family who were asleep and fled under the cover of darkness. He said the suspect was a relative who attacked the family to settle an old score.

According to District Emergency Officer Baqir Hussain, rescuers reached the house and administered first-aid to Nazeer Ahmed, 60, and shifted Makia Bibi, 35, Owais, 10, Aisha, 6, and Nazar Hussain, 65, to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital.

 

DPO Muhammad Faisal Kamran appreciated the officials who arrested Akram.

INJURED: Nine people including five women were injured in an attack by the rival groups over land dispute at Bagh Ali Arain village.

The injured Tasleem Bibi, 25, Sakina Bibi, 40, Shamim, 60, Robina, 35, Abida, 25, Nadeem, 20, Muhammad Imran, 20, Muhammad Riaz, 18, and Muhammad Sajjad, 16, were shifted to the Khairpur Tamewali THQ hospital where their condition was stated to be stable.

The Hasilpur Saddar police registered cases against the suspects.
