BAHAWALPUR: District police arrested 24 suspected outlaws and seized large amounts of contraband from their possession on Sunday.

In a series of raids across the district, police arrested 14 suspects and seized a large quantity of liquor. A spokesman for Bahawalpur police said that police teams from several police stations, including PS Cantt, PS Civil Lines, PS Chani Goth, PS Uch Sharif, PS Dhor Kot, PS Baghdadul Jadid, PS Sama Satta, PS Yazman, PS Head Rajkan and PS Hasilpur, conducted raids at dens within their respective jurisdiction and took 14 suspects into custody and recovered 720 litres of liquor from their possession. Separate cases were registered against the accused.

Meanwhile, teams from three police stations arrested three alleged drug peddlers and recovered narcotics from their possession.

The spokesman said that acting on a tip-off, teams from PS Abbasnagar, PS Khairpur Tamewali and PS Civil Lines conducted raids and arrested the suspects. The police recovered 6.2kgs of hashish from the possession of the suspects and registered separate cases against them.

Separately, seven people were in Chani Goth and Hasilpur respectively. Acting on a tip-off, police searched seven people on the road and discovered weapons in their possession. The police arrested the seven suspects and seized six pistols and one revolver.
