Bahawalpur Police inaugurated protection center.

DPO Bahawalpur Syed Muhammad Abbas shah continued public service, and inauguration of protection centre in district Bahawalpur. The protection centre will work for the rehabilitation, protection and redressal of all the vulnerable and condemned sections of society, including the transgender community, homeless and helpless children, mentally and physically challenged people and young children trapped in addiction and social evils.

According to the details, in the light of the orders of Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, District Police Officer Bahawalpur Syed Muhammad Abbas inaugurated the protection center in Bahawalpur while continuing the public service. The protection center was specially inaugurated by a representative of the transgender community. On the special orders of the DPO, a protection center has been set up at Police Service Center Bahawalpur.

This protection center will work for the rehabilitation, protection and redressal of all the weak and subjugated sections of the society, including the transgender community, homeless and helpless children, mentally and physically challenged people and young children trapped in addiction and social evils. A representative of the transgender community and a special person have been specially appointed in the protection center along with a mail from the police department and a victim support officer per mail so that the transgender community and the vulnerable and marginalized sections can easily inform about their problems.

Legal assistance, social security and complete awareness and guidance will be provided at the protection center with the cooperation of government and other non-government organizations. Talking to media representatives on this occasion, DPO Bahawalpur Syed Mohammad Abbas said that our religion, law And ethics teaches us to protect the rights of the weaker sections and the Punjab Police in this context protects all vulnerable and oppressed sections including the transgender community, homeless and helpless children, mentally and physically challenged people and young children trapped in addiction and social evils. It will play its full role to protect and make them useful citizens of the society by providing them with all possible help and facilities.

Legal assistance, social security and complete awareness and guidance will be provided to the members of the transgender community in the protection centers for all their problems. For this purpose, a representative of the transgender community has also been appointed at the protection center. The protection of the self-respect of the members of the transgender community will be ensured. Coordination with other private institutions including TOTA, Labor Department will be improved to make these people useful and skilled citizens of the society. A record will be kept of all the citizens who contact the protection center and their problems will be resolved. Full follow up will be taken.

The DPO said that the protection center will also provide education and training for the special children of the employees of the police department. All the weak and subjugated sections of the society deserve our special attention and treatment. The DPO further said that the protection center has been set up using the existing resources of the police. With this program of the Punjab Police, no effort will be spared to solve the problems of the transgender community and other deprived sections.

In the future, Mou’s will be signed with various government and private institutions to help and facilitate this project of the police to solve the problems of the transgender community and other deprived sections and the series of priority measures will be continued. DPO Syed Muhammad Abbas met the delegation of the transgender community and ascertained the problems faced by them and assured them of immediate resolution of the problems.
