Bahawalpur police launched campaign against drug smugglers and arrested accused from different areas of the district, police said.
A spokesman for Bahawalpur police said that following the orders of Regional Police Officer, Bahawalpur range, Riffat Mukhtar Raja and District Police Officer, Bahawalpur, Capt. (retd) Mustansar Feroze, police teams conducted raids in different areas of the district and successfully arrested four drug peddlers and two gamblers.
“Acting on tip-off, police raided different localities of the district including Anayati, Khairpur Tamewali, Hasilpur, Uch Sharif, Dera Nawab and others and apprehended 20 accused allegedly involved in sale of narcotics,” he said.
He said that the Anayati police arrested a drug peddler and recovered 1500 gram hashish from his possession. Khairpur Tamewali police raided at a place, arrested the accused and recovered 220 gram hashish from his possession. Hasilpur police seized 1215 gram hashish from the possession of the suspect.
The suspects have been shifted to police station. Further probe was underway.
