Public Relation Officer

The Public Relation Officer (PRO) is responsible for all dissemination of news and information to the media . The duties and responsibilities of the PRO includes:

• Assisting news personnel at the scene of incidents  
• Assisting the news media on an on-call basis      
• Preparing and distributing news releases    
• Arranging news conferences  

Coordinating the release of authorized information Public Relation Officer (PRO) keep citizens informed about the activities of Police Department. PROs may be spokespersons or they may serve as advisers to those who will appear on camera.

Public Relation Officers serve as a liaison between the government department and the media. PRO write news releases, plan news conferences and respond to inquiries from the media. The duties of PRO also includes to escort reporters/photographers who come to a government facility for interviews or photographs. PROs are expected to maintain an archive of news clippings about the deparment. PRO also respond to open records requests submitted by reporters.

Informing the Public

In addition to facilitating and generating media stories, PROs keep the public informed through direct communication. Print and electronic newsletters, brochures, posters, articles for print media, radio and or television are also prepared by PROs. PROs also answer phone calls from citizens and in conjunction with the DPO's PRO, operate government access channels on cable television.

Public Information Officer 

Mr. Abdul Raouf, Inspector Legal of Bahawalpur District has been notified as Public Information Officer (PIO). Separate cell in the office District Police Office Bahawalpur has been established so as to provide the information to any persons. Furthermore a body comprising of Office Superintendent, PIO and CRO has been constituted for disposal of applications received through mail as otherwise to provide information to the applicant under the Law/Rules.
